Omniya Tajni P4: Create the production materials in line with the plan After filming my documentary interviews, I had a lot of material to make afterwards before I even started to edit. This is a picture of me recording the interviews: The location I decided to film the interviews in, was in a recording studio in my college. The reason I chose this was because it had a good sitting space, so the talking head interviews would come out right on the shots and in the background of the talking head interviews, there was a mac, on the mac there was the editing version of the film the cast members are talking about. This is the location of where I filmed: After I recorded the footage, I made an edit decision where I wrote down all the footage and decided which one was useable and beneficial to add to my documentary. This is the editing decision, I have recorded after recording the footage for my documentary: After doing this I then decided to sort my footage out in to ...

D2 - First Draft

Omniya Tajni D2: Justify the creation process against the original concept documentation BRIEF: Documentary (up to 5 minutes long), produce a a short documentary featuring interviews with a range of artists that are exhibiting at the East London Urban Film Festival it will show the breadth of culture and creativity within the area.   The audio-visual promo that I decided to do was to make a documentary, that was up to 5 minutes long. The brief outlined that 'the documentary should feature interviews with a range of artists that are exhibiting at the East London Urban Film Festival that will show the breadth of culture and creativity within the area'. I feel like I have achieved this because I managed to interview 3 members of the cast and crew, this is where I asked them questions about the input they had in the making of the film. I interviewed the cinematographer, scriptwriter, an editor, actor and actress. I asked different questions depending on the ...

M3 - First Draft

Omniya Tajni M3: Justify the visual and audio effects used within the promo After adding the shots I want to include in my documentary I then added transitions, cuts, title pages and music. In my time line you can see that there are lots of cut away between the interviews and voiceovers along with some shots from the film. The reason why I decided to do this was because when the interviewees were talking about a certain shot or something that happened in the film, I thought it will be best to add that particular thing in the evidence, so it can show the audience what they are talking about incase they haven't watched it.  Adding cutaways allowed me to give the audience an indication on what they were talking about and I also thought it would have been a boring documentary if I just put in the whole interview without any evidence from the film, or little clips, because I don't think it would have been engaging enough and it would have led the audience to be frus...

P5 - First Draft

Omniya Tajni P5: Produce an offline edit of the promo Before making my documentary, I imported all the footage I needed for it, this included the interviews from the 3 members of the cast & crew, and then some shots from the film, where the interviewees have spoke about specifically. Here I dragged the interviews on the timeline and the exact shots or cutaways I thought would be suitable to add in between the interview, to explain what they are talking about. This was my offline edit before I added the cuts, transitions, title sequence, title names and music.
